Social Intelligence and Leadership: An Interview with Daniel Goleman

If there’s anyone in the business world who hasn’t heard of emotional intelligence and Daniel Goleman’s work into both the emotional and social realms of society, one might suspect that person of living under a rock for the past twenty years.  Although Goleman was hardly the first scholar to highlight the importance of impact of emotions on leadership and team effectiveness (Mayer and Salovey have a slightly different perspective, but their early work is quite similar), the publication of his book, Emotional Intelligence: Why it can matter more than IQ, is credited with popularizing this fascinating topic.

Goleman’s research into social intelligence has been equally important and intriguing.  In the following ten-minute clip, Goleman sits down to speak of these topics with Harvard Business Publishing.  A great way to spend 10 minutes of your time….
